Like the renewal that comes with Springtime each year, the Spring Line is an artistic recycling project,
established by Susan Woods, designer in chief of Aswoon®/Susan Woods Studio.
Devoted to the aesthetic formation of interior and exterior spaces,
Susan Woods converts abandoned and dismissed items of everyday
into functional art work. Old mattresses dumped in the streets of New York City become functional again, now within a different context.
"Functional" because the Spring Screens, indeed, serve
a purpose. They function as architectural partitions, wall decorations
as well as artistic-aesthetic embellishments to inner and outer
Green Design, ironically, is not only a purpose in itself. It
is a de facto strategy of and for survival. Combining it with a new approach to fine arts may make it feasable not only for commercial purposes, but also for those in artistic and creative environments. By thinking green when thinking design, we approach a different kind of human integration into the world, which in itself is a creative and artistic entity.
