and scultor, now concentrates on more decorative arts – designing
and making room partitions and wall coverings.
She steps into her first escape, where she has a view of
the Williamsburg Bridge and, closer in, a bright red tugboat
easing into the East River. In the distance the Manhattan
skyline shimmers in the river light".

"'You get more serious people here,' she says. 'What
used to bother me in DUMBO was all these pseudoartists who
look the part but are really not doing very good art. I don't
think it'll ever be like that here. The Navy Yard wants to
have a divers society. I think it works best that way".
